The USEP Consultant and DES provider are key to bridging and building employment opportunities for graduates with disability. It is important to find a DES provider who understands the nuances of your university, and who can commit the support of a USEP consultant, possessing the right skills and resources to provide exceptional specialist employment supports to students and graduates in a timely manner.


This section of the toolkit provides insights from current USEP partners about how to best provide employment supports to students and graduates with disability, and link them with relevant employment opportunities.

Engaging students on and off campus is the biggest challenge – towards the end of study, students prioritise any outstanding assessments or upcoming exams. Early promotion and contact with students as they commence their final year has been pivotal to employment success. We share some timeframes that have been proven to work.

Graduate positions tend to be offered by larger organisations. These roles are different to entry level employment as they are structured and entail up to two years of employment, utilising learnings gained from tertiary study with additional company specific training. This section provides a snapshot of graduate roles and how to assist the graduates you are working with to consider, be competitive and grasp these opportunities.

This section looks at why graduates have shared personal information and why other graduates haven’t.
